Pork Carnitas

It doesn’t get more authentic than Carnitas. Traditional pork carnitas tacos originated in the foodie haven of Michoacán, Mexico, the birthplace of Mexican cuisine. Carnitas are enjoyed year-round, but particularly in March, at Fiestas de Aniversario. Get your tacos started first thing in the morning by putting these seasoned pork pieces in the slow cooker—don’t cook these on the stove top or oven—and setting the temperature to low. By dinnertime, you’ll have perfectly shreddable, incredibly juicy pork meat ready for a warm tortilla. The best pork carnitas tacos toppings are lime, guacamole, and Mexican crema.
